Golden Buddha

The historical and literal Golden Buddha, with an official title of Phra Phuttha Maha Suwanna Patimakon, can be found in the temple of Wat Traimit in  Bangkok. According to history, the statue was concealed with a layer of concrete and colored glass to hide its real value. For almost 200 years, the real value of the Buddha was hidden until 1955 when it was relocated, and some plaster was chipped off, revealing the solid gold Buddha.

Get to know the place on a much more personal level by heading to the Bangkok National Museum. Bringing the kids with you on this trip will be a very educational and fun-filled learning activity. They have everything on display, including old puppets, weapons, clothes, and a lot more.

The Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho)

The image of the reclining Buddha inside the Wat Pho temple is situated in the heart of the city. It is 15-meters tall and 46-meters long. The glaring gold color of it makes it look very grand and luxurious. There are also bowls where you could drop a coin and make a wish. Buddhists offer prayers as they head inside. 

Vimanmek Mansion

Known as the world’s largest teakwood building, the Vimanmek Mansion was a former residence of the Royal Family. Now, it serves as a museum where people could see artifacts and even photographs of the generations of the royal family. Mind you; they are imposing a strict dress code in the area. So, better to dress in a much modest way.
