2 For me, maybe people just need to be positive. As a manager, you don’t need to scold your staff if they do something wrong, you need to teach them, Make sure you always have a smile on the customer, take care of them like a family. Everyone wants a customer if we can give them what they need because as a hospitality industry we need to love the customer because I believe the customer is always right but sometimes we encounter a customer with a bad attitude we need to smile as always.

    Question:
    1. : As a hotel manager in Bacolod, how can you strategically plan
and market your establishment to ensure maximum occupancy during the Masskara
Festival? What pricing strategies and promotional efforts would you implement
to attract festival-goers and provide them with a memorable stay?

Answer -As a hotel manager its a great challenge for me. Why? Because i know that Masskara festival is always can cause Mass tourism in the City, and i know hotel establishments are competing to this matter during the Masskara Festival. Every hotel has their strategies on how they can ensure to have an increase occupancy in their hotel. For the pricing, the only think that i can make is to have an inclusions or freebies just to gain increase occupancy. Of course I will enhance also my facilities inside my hotel because that will also matter on how they attract to my establishments, and that is also part of my preparation as Masskara Festival will celebrate. That’s the time that i can showcase my tourism products and services to our guests.

    2. You are a restaurant owner in Bacolod City. How would you
prepare your staff and operations to efficiently handle the heightened demand
during the festival? What strategies would you employ to ensure that customers
have a positive dining experience despite the increased crowds?

Answer – On this matter this could really affects our services in the food industry because of influxes of patrons and tourist that stroll around the area, food tourism is also a big factor during Masskara festival because this is the time that we show our Bacolod’s specialities such as the well known inasal chiken and others. There’s no 100% good quality service during this time because of some small delays, but in order for us to avoid this one is to hire seasonal staffs such as food servers, to take in charge because we are in the service industry and manpower is one of our important role of this kind of business, and this is very hectic so we need to orient the staffs to maintain the good service and avoid delays despite we can’t ensure to give our total best to our guest, but to give them a best experience in gastronomy tourism.

    3. As a transportation company executive, how would you address
the logistical challenges posed by the festival, such as increased demand for
taxis, shuttles, and other services? What strategies would you implement to
optimize your transportation offerings and meet the needs of festival attendees
while maintaining high standards of safety and convenience?

Answer- Based on my experience since I also tried to experience Masskara Festival every october and one of the major problem is the transportation management, since due to mass tourism the public transport cannot access immediately due to traffic. As of now it’s difficult to fix this one because for so many years, this impact still exist or happens annually during Masskara Festival i think the only way for this in order to have a smooth and efficient transportation service is to tap the Traffic Management Office to create a Traffic Management plan, so that there will be reroute for public transport to avoid traffic.

As a transportation company executive, i know this is a risky challenge for the transportation and tourism sector during the highlight of the said festival. My strategy for this is to prepare ahead of time, produce more vehicle which is demand by the tourist like taxis and grab services. Before the highlight all agencies under the transportation sector will conduct a plan to prepare for this matter since this is a big event to be celebrate to the City of Smiles and to expect, there are a lots of problems and traffics to happen. I will ask connection to the local government and other connected offices that are involved in the festival to control the traffic and to utilize the reserve vehicle that we offer during the highlight. We cannot assure to cater everybody but we will try our very best for at least we can offer an increase vehicle transportation services to our tourists in Bacolod

    1. As a hotel manager in Bacolod, how can you strategically plan and market your establishment to ensure maximum occupancy during Masskara Festival? What pricing strategies and promotional efforts would you implement to attract festival-goers and provide them with a memorable stay?

Answers: As a hotel manager, to ensure maximum occupancy during Masskara Festival i will do the following:
First , adjust your marketing for periods of low demand – One of the first things strategists tell you when you mention a low occupancy rate is to adjust your marketing. But that type of vague advice won’t bring guests in the door. Your hotel marketing strategy for periods of low occupancy needs to be detailed and specific.
Second, Increase value with specials and packages. Throughout the year, you can increase the value of your property by introducing specials and packages. These work better than discounts for increasing demand, as they include something extra for the same price and can help you stand out from the competition.
Lastly, Invest in guest services and staff training – If you notice that your occupancy rates are lower than your competition, seasonality and demand may be less important than your reputation. No matter the time of year, hotels with the best guest and planner experiences will almost always come out on top. By investing in staff training and guest services programs, you can impress guests and ensure that a good portion of the travelers to your area will choose to stay at your property.

For me, the pricing strategies and promotional efforts would i implement to attract festival-goers and provide them with a memorable stay is by being offering to the visitors/ guest special promo and packages that would enlightened there minds to not think twice to choose your hotel because there are many hotel in Bacolod and its has a different strategies to attract more guest in there establishment , so by that i should also make sure that the guest would satisfied about the service that they are looking for. Aside from that i also improve the amenities in my hotel so that the guest would feel relax while they are staying. Furthermore, Customer satisfaction should always implement to attract more festival goers.

    2. You are a restaurant owner in Bacolod City. How would you prepare your staff and operations to efficiently handle the heightened demand during the festival? What strategies would you employ to ensure that customers have a positive dining experience despite the increase crowds?

Answers: Empower your staff to deliver excellent customer service. This means giving them the authority, resources, and support they need to make decisions, solve problems, and satisfy customers. You should also encourage them to use their creativity, initiative, and judgment to go the extra mile and exceed customer expectations. Empowering your staff can boost their confidence, motivation, and loyalty, as well as improve customer satisfaction and retention.

To improve the restaurant customer experience, ensure your staff provide amazing service, offer the best menu items at the best value possible, make your interior uniquely welcoming and focus on optimizing important business operations like reviews and technology services.

    3. As a transportation company executive, how would you address the logistical challenges posed by the festival, such as increased demand for taxis, shuttle, and other services? What strategies would you implement to optimize your transportation offerings and meet the needs of festival attendees while maintaining high standard of safety and convenience?

Answers: When there is a festival, transportation is a very important issue that needs to be addressed. If it is not well organized, it could have negative impact on all guests. The only thing I can do, as the executive of a transportation company, to ensure a smooth and effective transportation service is to request the Traffic Management Office to create a Traffic Management plan, which will include a rerouting of public transportation to avoid traffic.

The best strategies that i would implement is that i should collaborate to the local government and other offices who are connected to this festival to control the traffic. Invest on quality mass transit .Provide exclusive lanes and stops for public transportation. Make bike lanes and pedestrian pathways even safer to give people the confidence to choose walking and cycling over commuting for short distances.

    1. Crafting Festival-Centric Marketing Campaigns
As an MBA student, I would make the most of the Masskara Festival, businesses can integrate festival elements into their branding and promotions, incorporating festival colors, masks, and dance themes. Offering festival-themed packages, such as Masskara-inspired dishes, discounts, or bundled hotel and festival tickets, can create a unique experience for guests. Organizing interactive events within the business, like mask-making workshops or live performances, adds to the festival spirit. Social Media presence especially on wildly used platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and Twitter would greatly convince the festival attendees. Customized emails should target potential customers, emphasizing the unique festival-related offerings and promotions. Participation in festival-related activities and sponsorship showcases support for the local community, boosting the company’s local reputation. Utilizing physical marketing materials, such as banners and posters in strategic locations across Bacolod, especially in high-traffic areas during the festival, can enhance visibility. Finally, gathering ongoing feedback from festival participants allows for adjustments to the marketing strategy based on their preferences and suggestions.
    2. Leveraging Social Media and Influencers
As a marketing student, I would start by using well-known websites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to develop a social media and influencer marketing strategy for a company during the Masskara Festival. Here, festival-goers may talk about their experiences. The material should use eye-catching images to highlight the company’s Masskara-related items, such as unique festival meals or décor. Using hashtags associated with the festival and engaging with other festival goers’ postings might help generate enthusiasm and attract attention.

Sharing behind-the-scenes looks at a company’s preparations, customer tales, and user-generated content from festival attendees may all make for interesting content. Running competitions or campaigns that motivate festival goers to post about their interactions with the establishment on social media can increase participation and buzz.

When it comes to influencer collaborations, it’s important to work with regional influencers that actually care about the Masskara Festival and the local community. These influencers can create authentic content that relates with their followers. They could share their experiences at the business, promote special festival deals, or even partner with the business’s social media to share their experiences which can increase the trust and attention of potential customers.
    3. Navigating Cultural Sensitivity and Authenticity

As an MBA marketing student, I would ensure that marketing campaigns respect the local culture and maintain authenticity during the Masskara Festival, businesses should follow several steps and guidelines. First, they should thoroughly research and understand Bacolod’s culture, traditions, and the significance of the festival. Engaging with the local community and the local government unit, including community leaders and cultural experts, is essential to ensure that marketing efforts align with the festival’s cultural importance and local values. Integrating local elements into marketing materials and campaigns, while avoiding cultural appropriation, is important. Collaboration with local craftsmen can add authenticity to festival-related products or decorations. Following local traditions, using the correct language and dialect in marketing materials, providing sensitivity training to staff, and actively seeking feedback from the local community are key strategies for businesses to maintain cultural sensitivity and authenticity during the Masskara Festival. This will enhance the business’s reputation as a respectful and culturally aware participant in the festival.

  16. RAFFY P. GUMAWA MSHM 1

    1. The Masskara Festival attracts a significant influx of
tourists and visitors to Bacolod City. Hoteliers are eager to capitalize on
this surge in demand to maximize occupancy rates and revenue.

The center of the MassKara festival is the big vibrant masks. A lot of barangays and groups are working hard to give world-class performances complete with crafted masks and eye-catching outfits. The most exciting part of the yearly MassKara Festival is the Dance Competition. This part of the festival is something that each and every visitor would not want to miss.
Hoteliers are eager to capitalize on this surge in demand to maximize occupancy rates and revenue with the following:
    Boost in Occupancy Rates
One of the most immediate impacts of increased traveling is the rise in hotel occupancy rates. As more people embark on vacations or business trips, hotels are witnessing a higher influx of guests, resulting in fuller rooms and a greater utilization of hotel facilities. This surge in demand presents both opportunities and challenges for hotels to capitalize on.

    1. Enhanced Revenue Generation
With higher occupancy rates come increased revenue opportunities for hotels. As more people choose to travel, the surge in travelers allows hotels to capitalize on this demand and generate higher profits. One of the key advantages of higher occupancy rates is the ability for hoteliers to exercise greater pricing power. During peak seasons or events, when the demand for accommodations is high, hotels can charge premium rates, maximizing their revenue per occupied room.

    2. Diversification of Target Markets
Increased traveling also brings with it a diversification of target markets for the hotel industry. With a wider range of travelers seeking accommodation, hotels have the opportunity to cater to different demographics and preferences. This may involve adapting the amenities and services offered to appeal to various customer segments, such as families, solo travelers, or digital nomads. For example, they can offer adventure packages for outdoor enthusiasts, wellness retreats for health-conscious travelers, or cultural immersion programs for those interested in local heritage and traditions. These tailored experiences not only attract specific customer segments but also help hotels differentiate themselves from competitors and foster guest loyalty.

    3. Embracing Technology
In today’s rapidly evolving hospitality industry, hotels are realizing the importance of embracing technology to effectively cope with the surge in demand. By integrating online booking platforms and mobile apps into their operations, hotels are able to provide guests with a seamless and convenient experience. These digital tools enable guests to easily book their stays, access information about the hotel’s facilities and services, and engage with the hotel staff. Moreover, by automating various processes through technology, hotels can improve efficiency, reduce errors, and allocate resources more effectively. Whether it’s streamlining check-in procedures or enhancing room service experiences, embracing technology allows hotels to stay ahead of the curve and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

    2. As a hotel manager in Bacolod, how can you strategically plan
and market your establishment to ensure maximum occupancy during the Masskara Festival? What pricing strategies and promotional efforts would you implement to attract festival-goers and provide them with a memorable stay?

As a hotel manager in Bacolod, I can strategically plan and market the establishment to ensure the maximum occupancy during the masskara festival with the following strategies:
1.Adjust your marketing for periods of low demand
Your hotel marketing strategy for periods of low occupancy needs to be detailed and specific.
    2. Increase value with specials and packages.
you can increase the value of your property by introducing specials and packages. These work better than discounts for increasing demand, as they include something extra for the same price and can help you stand out from the competition.
3.Invest in guest services and staff training
If you notice that your occupancy rates are lower than your competition, seasonality and demand may be less important than your reputation. No matter the time of year, hotels with the best guest and planner experiences will almost always come out on top. By investing in staff training and guest services programs, you can impress guests and ensure that a good portion of the travelers to your area will choose to stay at your property.
    4. Add in-demand amenities
Hotel amenities go through fluctuations in demand just like locations do. Take a look at your utilization rates for the different amenities you offer so that you can understand how demand for your amenities changes over time. Double down on high-demand amenities in your sales and marketing communications, and consider special packages promoting the lower demand amenities to guests.
    5. Focus on repeat guests.
Guests and planners who have chosen your hotel in the past — particularly those who had a positive experience — are much easier to market to than ones who have never heard of you. Take the time to build email lists for each audience segment so you know when to reach out to that group with specific promotions.
    6. Work with a revenue manager.
A professional revenue manager can turn the tide on low occupancy rates, helping you reach the right guests with the right offers at the right time. Revenue managers use historical hotel data to forecast future demand and recommend actions to increase revenue. Their focus is less on occupancy rates themselves, and more about how those rates fit into a larger picture of your hotel’s revenue.
    7. Manage your online reputation.
Your reputation online, including reviews, search results, social media posts, local press, awards, and photos from corporate events, play a major role in guests deciding where to stay. Much of your online reputation is out of your control, but there are a few things you can do to engage with guests online and ensure that they see you in a positive light.
    8. Create engaging events for specific audiences.
Events are great for drawing in a crowd, and the right event can result in a substantial increase in both demand and occupancy. But events should never be one size fits all. Think back to the target groups and the marketing you’re already doing to reach them.

    3. Local restaurants experience a substantial increase in patrons
during the Masskara Festival. However, managing the surge in dining traffic can
be challenging, particularly in terms of maintaining service quality and
    customer satisfaction.
To ensure our customer satisfaction we have to maintain the following steps:
    1. Ask for feedback and take action
One crucial way to understand how satisfied your customers feel is by asking for feedback. If a customer contacts your company for support, you can follow up with a survey asking about their support experience. Creating a satisfaction survey to ask how a customer feels regarding your products or services can also help you improve your products based on customer needs.
    2. Offer multiple forms of communication for customer support
Providing support on multiple channels can enhance the customer experience on platforms where your customers are active. Consider including customer support on your website, in person, on social media or over the phone. Offering many forms of support can show brand consistency and promote trust. When a customer knows they can access support, it can encourage them to communicate their needs.
    3. Design a custom contact form
A contact form on your website can include listing your company’s phone number, email address and social media profiles. This information can help a customer determine which form of contact best suits their needs. Consider creating a contact form that gathers information like customer names, contact information and descriptions of what kind of support the customer needs.
    4. Respond in a timely manner
Customers may report a positive experience with a company when they feel like their request is a priority. This means the time you take to respond to questions on messaging platforms, reviews and emails can affect customer satisfaction. Responding to customers quickly and efficiently can show customer appreciation and inspire confidence in the services your business provides.
    5. Provide 24/7 customer support
Consider strengthening your customer support outreach by offering 24/7 services. This type of service can promote high satisfaction rates in customers who have questions that require an immediate response. You can implement a 24/7 customer support system by adding a chat application to your website. Consider including a live chat feature and list the hours live representatives are available.
    6. Create customer rewards
Rewards create an incentive for customers to continue using your services or buying your products. Rewards can include discounts, product giveaways and invitations to test new items. For example, a customer who often makes large purchases may enjoy 10% off their next purchase. Saving money can promote feelings of customer satisfaction and persuade customers to purchase additional products or services.
    7. Give transparent information
Customers may be more likely to use your product or service if you give adequate information regarding all aspects of your business. This can include what your business does, how it prices its products and what its mission statement is. Giving customers information about customer service and return policies can also boost their levels of trust in your business. In addition, offering transparent information help customers understand what to expect from your business after making a purchase.

    4. You are a restaurant owner in Bacolod City. How would you
prepare your staff and operations to efficiently handle the heightened demand
during the festival? What strategies would you employ to ensure that customers have a positive dining experience despite the increased crowds?
As the owner of the restaurant in order to have a positive experience despite the increased crowds are as follows:
    1. Hire the right people
    • Honest – someone who will tell you the truth and keep their word. Avoid people with fake personalities.
    • Humble – they understand their strengths and weaknesses. Doesn’t think too highly or lowly of themselves.
    • Enthusiastic – desire to learn and go out of their comfort zone to excel.
    • Emotional Intelligence – deals with their emotions well and are empathetic to others around them.
    • Motivated and determined – willingness to work hard at the job
    • Team Player – works well with other people
    • Reliable – someone you trust that will get the job done
    • Receptive – someone who takes direction, criticisms and praise well
    2. Foster open communication
Foster open communication with your employees and gain their respect and trust.

Create a platform where employees can be heard so you can genuinely hear their ideas, thoughts, and complaints.

Getting to know your staff on a personal level allows you to understand them better, and it also makes them feel like you value them as a person.

Be empathetic when they are communicating a problem, try to see things from their point of view so you can suggest a proper solution.

As a manager, you should be the one resolving conflict instead of causing them.
Respect your staff’s privacy and try to avoid shaming them in front of others.

    3. Encourage staff to voice out their opinions and ideas

Following on nicely from the last point, try to create an environment that allows people to participate in discussions and voice out their opinions.

With your staff members actively participating, it shows that they are motivated by attempting to make improvements to the business.

Never shut someone down for voicing their opinion, even if you don’t agree with it.
By doing that, tension will arise as your staff members will be discouraged from sharing any of their thoughts.

Everyone’s thoughts and voice is important! Make sure that your employees feel heard!

    4.Reward and recognize hard work
Everyone loves to be rewarded, especially when they’ve done exceptional work. If you see someone really excelling or working hard, reward them with a small bonus, a small prize or even vocal recognition.
Do this in front of the whole team as it will make the recipient feel good and show everyone else that hard work is rewarded, motivating them indirectly.
Many businesses use regular reward systems such as employee of the month, monthly staff outings, special benefits etc.
But remember to be consistent and fair with your rewards so you won’t get accused of showing favouritism.

    Case Study Questions:
    1. Crafting Festival-Centric Marketing Campaigns
Background: The Masskara Festival is a prime time for businesses to engage with festival-goers. Marketing campaigns should align with the festive spirit and culture of Bacolod while promoting products and services.

Question: As an MBA student specializing in marketing, how would you design a marketing campaign tailored to the Masskara Festival for a local business, such as a hotel or restaurant? What creative strategies and channels would you utilize to capture the attention and interest of festival attendees?

    Answer:

As we create channels and strategies that we will be using to design a marketing campaign tailored to the Masskara Festival, our main marketing goal is raising awareness about our product or the festival itself. As an MBA student specializing in marketing who also has experience in a hotel- restaurant management, I will be using different types of marketing channels and strategies such as public relations (unconventional pr), social media marketing, email marketing, creating promotion with Masskara Festival theme, and partnering with influencers.

Public relations involves developing rapport with reporters and creating stories that they will inevitably share to the public. Unconventional PR will have a big impact on designing a marketing campaign for your local businesses, such as hotels and restaurants. Technically, it is a publicity stunt that everyone will talk about. For instance, the marketers will be employing a unique, eye-catching Masskara Festival displays for their local business by simply maintaining this image using unexpected and unusual methods. This strategy which is adapted for the festival, can make the local establishments easier to remember. This kind of channel can appear in a variety of ways, such as through viral videos, marketing gimmicks, and customer gratitude.

The second phase is for hotels and restaurants to post Masskara Festival-related social media advertisements. Social media marketing is a fantastic approach to enhance your company’s reputation and will enable you to connect with more qualified leads. Similarly, one of the major advantages of a sponsored social media advertising campaign is that it enables you to reach a much wider audience than the users who already follow your company’s social media account.

Thirdly, hotels and restaurants must use email marketing related to the Masskara Festival. This is one of the oldest internet marketing techniques and has a number of benefits that have made it a popular method of advertising even years down the line. Email marketing refers to sending emails to market your products, services, or brand, either to people who subscribe to mailing lists or to people you are cold emailing.

Create specialty festival-themed promos, like Masskara restaurant meals or festival-only hotel discounts, as my fourth strategy. The local hotels and restaurants may also benefit from offering packages that include festival tickets or shuttle services to various festival venues as well as to and from the festival grounds. I would also want to mention that you should decorate your workplace with Masskara-themed ornaments, masks, and vibrant banners. Encourage employees to dress up for the occasion by wearing masks and costumes.

Finally, work with bloggers or influencers from Bacolod who are going to the festival since they can help you advertise your company to their followers and provide festival-related content.

    2. Leveraging Social Media and Influencers

Background: Social media plays a significant role in the festival experience, with attendees sharing their moments online. Leveraging social media and collaborating with local influencers can be an effective marketing strategy.

Question: In your role as a marketing student, how would you develop a social media and influencer marketing strategy for a business looking to capitalize on the Masskara Festival? What platforms, content ideas, and influencer partnerships would you recommend to create a buzz and attract festival attendees?

    Answer:

Years ago, a-list celebrities were the only ones allowed to influence customer sentiments. Since everyone can now become an influencer, brands have additional options to connect with their target audience. We hardly ever scroll through our preferred social media site without coming across an influencer marketing campaign in motion. As a marketer, creating a focused influencer marketing strategy is a terrific method to reach the target demographic and improve consideration for brand awareness, company’s services, and client acquisition.

Festivals can claim to be about music, fashion, food, or, art. But in reality, they are only about one thing: the people who attend. In other words, reaching out to local influencers is a huge step toward the marketing objective. Due to the audience reach it generates, influencer marketing is regarded as one of the most effective strategies for promoting brands and products. The first thing that comes to mind is that as the marketer I need to be clear about the purpose and objectives of our campaign when teaming with the influencers. We need to learn more about the Masskara Festival and discuss our content ideas. However, my main goal is to urge the local influencers to create content before, during, and after the festival; by using a branded hashtag and festival-related music, to promote the event.

I’ll be using Facebook, TikTok, Youtube, and Instagram as my go-to social media channels. Given Facebook’s prominence in the Philippines, it can spread knowledge of the festival to a wider audience. Due to its younger user base, TikTok might be advantageous for brand exposure. Instagram is a social networking platform that people use to share aesthetically appealing festival-related tales and material. Marketers can use the hashtag I’ve selected, such as #VlogMasskFest. Last but not least, local YouTubers can produce videos showcasing the marketers’ companies’ participation in the festival itself.

    3. Navigating Cultural Sensitivity and Authenticity

Background: Bacolod’s culture and traditions are central to the Masskara Festival. Marketing efforts should be culturally sensitive and authentic to resonate with the local community and festival-goers.

Their opinions can aid in forming our marketing strategy. In addition, when we the marketers use any trademarks belonging to the festival’s creators, including its logos and emblems, it is important to ask permission or licensing to the creators to give credit to their work.

Moreover, as a marketer when creating designs or promotional materials, cooperate with Bacolods’ craftspeople and artists. By doing this, we can guarantee that our campaign will be culturally accurate while also helping the surrounding communities.

Furthermore, be honest and forthright about your goals and participation in the event. Being genuine in your interaction is essential to fostering a sense of community.

Question: In your role as a marketing student, how would you develop a social media and influencer marketing strategy for a business looking to capitalize on the Masskara Festival? What platforms, content ideas, and influencer partnerships would you recommend to create a buzz and attract festival attendees?

As we embark ourselves in a world full of technology. It became really easy for us to communicate and share knowledge about certain events. Technology has developed rapidly and made things more useful to everyone. The use of social media and influencers in promoting products and events like Masskara has been a trend. Influencers on social media are becoming more common and have a rising impact on customer’s attitudes, perceptions, preferences, choices, and decisions. They establish their identities by building a vibrant, multimodal online persona that depicts their daily life as individuals and draws a sizable following. There are different platform ideas and influencer partnerships that can be used in promotion. One of which is to leverage multiple platforms. Don’t restrict yourself to just one social media channel. However, you should still expand out and utilize the capabilities exclusive to each platform. Spend the majority of your time where your audience spends the majority of their time. In terms of long-form video, TikTok reigns supreme, while Instagram has evolved into something of a jack-of-all-trades. Be innovative and rely on your influencers to help you choose the right strategy for each platform. You can also do co-branding or brand partnership. It entails two or more brands working together to advertise their products in a single campaign while leveraging each other’s advantages. Background: Bacolod’s culture and traditions are central to the Masskara Festival. Marketing efforts should be culturally sensitive and authentic to resonate with the local community and festival-goers.

Question: As an MBA student specializing in marketing, how would you ensure that marketing campaigns maintain cultural sensitivity and authenticity during the Masskara Festival? What steps and guidelines would you establish for businesses to engage respectfully with the local culture while promoting their offerings?

Masskara has been known not only because of the vibrant colors and big events that take place during the event. It is also about giving value to its authentic story and heritage. Maintaining its authenticity and its cultural sensitivity must also be an objective of any business or place. Cultural sensitivity is the recognition of, respect for, and understanding of various cultural norms, values, beliefs, and behaviors. It entails acknowledging and understanding the variety of cultural backgrounds and adjusting marketing tactics in a way that is courteous, inclusive, and free of harmful or insensitive content. Cultural awareness is a blatant illustration of your moral principles. When you neglect to provide content on your website demonstrating your respect for and tolerance of cultures other than your own, it is obvious that you do not place a high priority on promoting diversity. There should always be a push for authenticity. Starting with meaningful multicultural community participation is the first step. Businesses and communities are closely related in many ways, and emphasizing initiatives that support the growth and enrichment of various populations starts a cycle of mutual benefit. Different ethnic groups and origins handle business issues differently. Creating a marketing climate that values and promotes ethnic diversity can tremendously aid in creating a strong corporate relationship. People from a particular cultural background are more likely to seek assistance from reputable experts and neighbors. The most effective multicultural marketing technique to introduce your business to a diverse target audience is to make use of these influencers’ knowledge and authenticity. Additionally, it will enhance the sensitivity training you give your workers.

As Masskara continues to grow and become more famous and a helpful tool socially and economically. It is still need to go back and give value to its origin and culture. To that, there should be a clear understanding of the culture. Consulting a particular minority group without having a basic grasp of their cultural norms is the worst possible situation. For instance, some cultures forbid women from voicing their ideas, while others forbid people from questioning the authority figure. Thus, by performing preliminary research into the cultural context, councils can proactively identify these potential obstacles. In addition to ensuring a more fruitful dialogue, this proactive approach shows a sincere commitment to meaningfully and respectfully engaging with minority views. Secondly, is to learn differences. Being culturally conscious also means being aware of your own culture and how it affects your conduct. Think about how and why you behave the way you do, for instance, if you encounter cultural behavior that is extremely dissimilar from your own. This deeper comprehension of your own culture can help you comprehend other cultures better. Lastly, is important to communicate clearly to avoid conflict. Miscommunication and misunderstanding are common causes of problems. People with diverse cultural origins frequently communicate verbally and physically in ways that are different from one another. For instance, greetings in some cultures are expressed with a bow rather than a handshake. Direct eye contact may be considered rude in certain cultures but a sign of trust and honesty in others.

    > Behind-the-scenes footage of festival preparations, such as costume making or float building.
    > Highlighting the history and significance of the Masskara Festival through informative posts or videos.
    >Sharing user-generated content showcasing attendees’ experiences and memories from previous festivals.
    > Running contests or giveaways related to the festival, encouraging user participation.
    c. Influencer Partnerships: Collaborating with influencers can greatly amplify your reach and authenticity. The following are my suggestions for this kind of strategy:

    > Look for local influencers who have a genuine interest in cultural events, festivals, or travel. They can help create a connection with their followers and generate interest in the Masskara Festival.
    > Invite influencers to experience the festival firsthand and document their journey. This will provide an authentic perspective and encourage their followers to attend as well.
    > Encourage influencers to share their favorite festival activities or moments, creating a sense of anticipation and excitement among their followers.
Remember, building a strong social media and influencer marketing strategy takes time and effort. Regularly monitor engagement, analyze data, and adapt your approach based on the insights you gathered.
    3. When it comes to marketing campaigns during the Masskara Festival, the following are my suggested guidelines to establish for businesses to engage respectfully with the local culture while promoting their offerings to the festival attendees:

    a. Research and Understand the Festival: Encourage businesses to thoroughly research and understand the significance of the Masskara Festival. This includes learning about its history, traditions, and the values it represents to the local community.

b Collaborate with Local Experts: Partner with local experts, such as historians, cultural influencers, or community leaders, who can provide insights and guidance on how to respectfully incorporate the festival’s elements into their marketing campaigns.

    c. Embrace Authenticity: Encourage businesses to embrace the authenticity of the festival by incorporating local artwork, symbols, or traditional costumes into their marketing materials. This not only shows respect but also helps to create a genuine connection with the community.

    d. Engage the Community: Encourage businesses to actively engage with the local community by seeking their input and feedback on the marketing campaigns. This can be done through focus groups, surveys, or even involving local artists or performers in the creation of campaign content.

    e. Avoid Stereotypes and Appropriation: Remind businesses to be mindful of avoiding stereotypes or appropriating elements of the festival in a way that may offend or misrepresent the cultural significance. The goal should be to celebrate and respect the culture, not exploit it for commercial gain.

    f. Give Back to the Community: Encourage businesses to give back to the community by supporting local initiatives, organizations, or charities related to the festival. This helps foster a positive relationship and demonstrates a genuine commitment to the well-being of the local culture.

By following these steps and guidelines, businesses can maintain cultural sensitivity and authenticity while promoting their offerings during the Masskara Festival attendees.

Local restaurants experience a substantial increase in patrons
during the Masskara Festival. However, managing the surge in dining traffic can
be challenging, particularly in terms of maintaining service quality and
    customer satisfaction.

: You are a restaurant owner in Bacolod City. How would you
prepare your staff and operations to efficiently handle the heightened demand
during the festival? What strategies would you employ to ensure that customers
have a positive dining experience despite the increased crowds?
As a restaurant owner in Bacolod City during the Masskara Festival, there are several strategies I would like to employ to efficiently handle the heightened demand and ensure a positive dining experience for customers. We must always remember that the customers are the most important people in any business. Customers are our source of income. Managing the surge in dining traffic during the Masskara Festival can indeed be challenging for local restaurants. As a local restaurant owner, we must be well prepared in order for us to be effective & efficient during these times. Staff plays an important role in the restaurant so before the festival begins, I would provide comprehensive training to my staff, both front of the house and back of the house. This training would focus on enhancing their skills, speed, and efficiency in order to handle larger crowds. We must ensure enough staff members to handle the increased number of customers. Hire seasonal employees if necessary and provide them with proper training to maintain service standards. We must also cross train our staff enable for them to handle multiple roles and tasks. This can help optimize operations during busy periods. This way, staff members can seamlessly assist in various areas of the restaurant if needed. We must implement a reservation system to better manage the influx of diners. This can help us allocate tables efficiently and reduce wait times for customers. We must also plan ahead and stock up on ingredients and supplies to meet the increased demand. It’s crucial to have enough inventory to prevent running out of popular items, maintaining open communication with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ingredients and supplies. This would prevent shortages and ensure we can meet the increased demand and have enough stocks. Optimize your restaurant’s workflow to enhance efficiency. This includes organizing kitchen operations and ensuring effective communication among staff members. Implementing efficient ordering and payment systems, such as self-service or mobile ordering platforms, can help reduce wait times and improve overall customer experience. Utilizing technology like having a headset (the one that we see when we order food to drive thru) to enhance communication among staff members, in this way we can effectively cooperate & coordinate with other staff. Swift Conflict Resolution, staying proactive in addressing any issues or complaints that may arise due to the increased dining traffic. Train your staff to handle conflicts swiftly and professionally to ensure customer satisfaction. By implementing these, local restaurants can better manage the surge in dining traffic during the Masskara Festival while maintaining service quality and customer satisfaction. Lastly, we can encourage customers to provide feedback on their dining experience in order for us to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments. This feedback can be collected through surveys, comment cards, or online review platforms. By implementing it we could create a well-prepared and organized restaurant operation that can efficiently handle the heightened demand during the Masskara Festival.

Bacolod’s transportation network faces added pressure during
the Masskara Festival due to the influx of visitors. Ensuring smooth and
    efficient transportation services becomes paramount.

: As a transportation company executive, how would you address
the logistical challenges posed by the festival, such as increased demand for
taxis, shuttles, and other services? What strategies would you implement to
optimize your transportation offerings and meet the needs of festival attendees
while maintaining high standards of safety and convenience?

To ensure smooth and efficient transportation services during the Masskara Festival, the company should be well prepared. There are several strategies that can be implemented as a transportation company executive first is to increase public transportation by collaborating with local transportation authorities to increase the frequency and capacity of public transportation services during the festival period. We should also establish effective communication channels between our company, festival organizers, and local authorities. This will allow better coordination and quick response to any transportation-related issues or emergencies. Also, implementing a flexible scheduling system can help optimize transportation offerings by adjusting the frequency and routes of taxis and shuttles based on peak hours and popular destinations. By analyzing data and monitoring demand patterns, our company can ensure that enough vehicles are deployed to areas where they are needed the most. Having an efficient dispatching system would help organize the process of assigning vehicles to customers. By using advanced technology and GPS tracking, the transportation company can efficiently manage the fleet and respond quickly to customer requests, of course ensuring the safety of festival attendees should be a top priority. Conduct regular maintenance checks on vehicles, enforce strict driver training programs, and implement safety protocols such as drug test to our drivers before the masskara festival.

    1. As a hotel manager, I will invest in guest services and also staff training by this you can impress guest and ensure that a good portion of the travelers to your area will choose to stay at your hotel. The strategies and promotional effort would be introducing specials and packages, because it is more ideal than giving discounts for increasing demands, as they include something extra for the same price and give memorable stay that they can’t forget and it helps you standout from competition like for example adding value to your package is to bundle various services and amenities together.
    2. To prepare heightened demand during festival is first, always carefully manage food inventory to ensure enough supplies without being over-provisioned. Second, increase team efficiency because your team also has an essential part to play in your restaurants operation and balance out the role or task given into your staff. Third and last, focus on training and hiring and ensure that hiring and training process are as efficient as possible.
    3. As a transportation company executive, by knowing what are is in demand for transportation and focus on that area. I would focus on social media posting our service offer.

    1. Crafting Festival-Centric Marketing Campaigns
The Masskara Festival has brought so much pride not only to the place where it brings substantial economic boost, and to the people who deeply rooted the festival in their culture, but also to the businesses present in the city that would be given favor for its exposure and huge revenue out from the festival due to its large number of increment in sales. This festival is widely awaited by the locals and tourists for its majestic and vibrant experience of its cultural celebration. The joy, fun, and happiness that everybody could share during this celebration has been crystal evidence of its joyous festivity.
As an MBA student specializing in marketing, below are the following marketing campaigns to tailor to the Masskara Festival for hotels and restaurants:
    a. Booth on every front or entrance of each hotel and restaurant displaying the vibrant and colorful image of the Masskara Festival. With the intricate and well-handmade masks as the main feature of the structure.
    b. Souvenir items such as mask-keychain, ref magnets, fans, t-shirts, miniature masks, and any other items that serve as memorabilia to the tourists who were present during the entire celebration, may it be a week or two, or within the month of celebration. Yet, hotels and restaurants could also have it available the whole time as a keep-sake/ remembrance for visitors and tourists during their stay in Bacolod City.
    c. Promo rates on rooms on the period. The influx of tourists is highly expected, so hotels and lodging residences are always fully booked during this event. In this regard, hotels could make use of it by offering promo rates for early bookings. This secures their income during, even before and after the event. In this way, your hotel will give a lasting impression and will always be the preference for booking any occasion in the future due to the promo/s offered.
    d. At the same time, restaurants can do the same by offering promo-festival rates during the event. An unlimited buffet could be offered in a cheaper amount. In this way, your restaurant will be flooded with consumers, especially when Bacolod’s best local dishes are available. This will allow tourists to experience the taste of the Negrenses/ Bacolodnons.
    e. Hotels and restaurant could also design their setting/ setup in line with the celebration. Decorations must be themed for the Masskara Festival to feel the festive atmosphere and vibrance.
    f. Hotels and restaurants could also put up a big screen for viewing for people who would opt to stay at their rooms/ diner to get away from the crowd and still get to witness the lively celebration and street dances.
    g. Lastly, photo booths that are Instagram-worthy are now in this era. In this sense, business owners should go with the rapid flow of society and modern ways to stay afloat and not be left behind by the trend.
    h. Held a program that would include the whole community/ society and the tourists to join. This could be a fundraising or charity event. The business establishment could host a fun run, a concert, or any other event that would benefit and still be tailored to the Masskara Festival Celebration. Participants could wear a mask or have their bodies painted with a mask design to relate to the celebration.
All the things mentioned above could capture the attention and interest of festival attendees. By utilizing social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and the like to broadcast and post these series of events ahead of time, like a week or two before the event, in all the social media accounts of the establishment, to draw tourists and even locals to flock and gather on the said period of events.
In addition, though not that usual anymore, a business establishment could have a brigade/ parade announcing its program/ events or even promotions to hold to drag the attention of the attendees and even the locals.

    2. Leveraging Social Media and Influencers
Working with influencers and local affiliates in attending a festival or sponsoring it would be exciting, especially when you get to share your raw experiences with your audience.
As a marketing student, I could develop a social media and influence marketing strategy for a business looking to capitalize on the Masskara Festival by the following:
    a. Live hosting a festival even through our cellphones alone. Going live during an event is already very common and proves to be very effective in drawing an audience. Being able to talk to them online and show them what the festival could offer and how amazing it is, will persuade anyone watching to have their eyes on the festival, given its lively display and features.
    b. Collaboration with social media. This is by creating events and tagging sponsorships, vendors, and artists. Also, letting people tag your event on their posts will widen and strengthen your audience reach.
    c. Create hype. Create an event that would encourage more people to participate by giving freebies, offering promotions, discounts, and even games. This will be a big help in promoting your business.
    d. Don’t just promote main events, but also support local mini-events. In our city, a couple of mini-events organized by some local groups have been hosting events that would gather people and the community to join. So, with the Masskara Festival, this could be done as well. To mention a few, these are: 1. Tattoo competition– with the celebration as the theme is highlighted—for the Masskara Festival, the artistic mask designs are intricately engraved; 2. Body painting, which enthusiasts and artists’ masterpieces are performed and shown; 3. Fun run; 4. Mini-concerts; 5. Zumba and many more, to boost the festivity.
    e. Volunteering is also one strategy to capitalize on the festival. This, however, should be planned ahead of time to ensure the right number of volunteers and staff. This could also be done by voluntarily joining the local government’s programs and activities that would contribute to the whole welfare and meaningful festival.
All of these could be made almost in all media platforms aforementioned (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok/ TikTok Shop, Spotify -podcast) and even online app stores where all merchandise for the festival could be displayed: Shopee, Lazada, Zalora and Amazon (international).

    3. Navigating Cultural Sensitivity and Authenticity
The smiling masks serve as a reminder that the people of Bacolod City will continually rise from the fateful past and carry on with their lives as bold and strong as they can despite all the challenges. Staying resilient amidst the tragedy. Thus, the Masskara Festival was invoked.
As an MBA student specializing in marketing, I can ensure that marketing campaigns maintain cultural sensitivity and authenticity during the Masskara Festival by being present and giving my full support in the City’s major activities like the MassKara Agriculture-trade fairs, food festivals, sports events, MassKara Queen Beauty pageant, carnivals, and other events held annually. Helping in promoting these events will show your passion for the festival and could engage more attendees.
The following are the steps and guidelines to engage respectfully with the local culture while promoting their offerings:
    a. Start advertising the event on social media. Getting active on social media is one way of supporting the festival.
    b. Reach out to influencers for wider reach. Collaborations could be done in this very aspect.
    c. Look for local companies/ businesses/establishments and even sponsors to partner with in campaigning the event.
    d. Offer promotional items that will advertise the celebration. Utilize local items/ delicacies that will introduce Bacolod City’s native products.
    e. Explore the beauty and grandeur of Bacolod City’s spots to bring more tourists with the touch of the vibrant festivals.
    f. Continually educate and connect with the tourists and even the young individuals of Bacolod City on the historical events that led toward the creation of the MassKara Festival. In this way, the compassion of the Bacolodnons will be evident toward their culture.

Here is my proposed marketing campaign for local businesses:

    1. Intentional Branding
Establishments may optimize festival visibility by including Masskara festival elements in their services and marketing platforms. These elements are primarily the Masskara official logo, music, color palette.

    2. Masskara Packages
Masskara themed buffet & meals which highlight the Bacolod experience may be offered to create an ultimate taste of the city’s cuisine. Furthermore, Bacolod has a rising community of local coffee and beer brewers, which may be tapped to expand the tastes of what the city has to offer.

    3. Tourist Discount Packages
Hotels and restaurants may partner with travel agencies, transportation (like Grab) and local tourism for small itineraries after dining at discounted rates. Discount rates maybe given in various categories to stimulate fun and festive atmosphere (eg., restaurant / café diners with masks upon entrance get a discount, those with Masskara related apparel get free dessert treats, etc.)

    4. Historical Awareness
It would create more impact if marketing platforms and campaign like electronic media can creatively highlight the roots of the festival in the 1980 as a proactive response to crises of that time. Moreso, the humble connections of the festival with then Art Association of Bacolod, the coining of the actual term “Masskara” by the late Ely Santiago needs more emphasis than ever. These may be creatively infused in the establishment campaigns such as displays, brochures, etc.

    1. Establishments or businesses may sponsor content creators from outside Bacolod to create travelouge content to and from the festivals.
    2. It would also help to create a contract / partnership with one or two influencers to create exclusive content for the duration of the festival, making a statement that suggests the business’ unique identity and target market.
    3. Sponsor Masskara- related contests for creative content.
    4. Assign a specific metaverse campaign team to maximize TGFI (Tiktok, Google, Facebook, Instagram) presence.

    3. Navigating Cultural Sensitivity and Authenticity
Background: Bacolod’s culture and traditions are central to the Masskara Festival. Marketing efforts should be culturally sensitive and authentic to resonate with the local community and festival-goers.
Question: As an MBA student specializing in marketing, how would you ensure that marketing campaigns maintain cultural sensitivity and authenticity during the Masskara Festival? What steps and guidelines would you establish for businesses to engage respectfully with the local culture while promoting their offerings?
As an MBA student specializing in marketing, how would you design a marketing campaign tailored to the Masskara Festival for a local business, such as a hotel or restaurant? What creative strategies and channels would you utilize to capture the attention and interest of festival attendees?

In relation to the specific answer in Question # 1 , electronic and online media may be used to create historical awareness on the festival. The content need not be lengthy documentaries, but more of bite-size information in FAQ format, which may be shown in loop in establishment TVs and social media sites.

There is still an ongoing need to fill in the historical element of the festivity and highlight the connection between crises, the Art Association of Bacolod years and the simple but grand beginnings at the Bacolod Public Plaza which is summed in one word: Merry Making.

In this note, the visuals connected to the city maybe included in hotels campaign and elements of design to bring to the subconscious the historical component of the Masskara Festival (eg., incorporation of the Art Deco Public plaza checkered flooring, more emphasis on the smiling mask, the street vibe, etc.). Only in knowing the past can one move bravely to the future.

As an MBA student, I would plan out an Masskara Hunt (like The Amazing Race where they look for clues on different establishments and do a specific task to get a mask, completing it would be given a reward) in Lacson St. It would take a collaboration with the LGU and local businesses along Lacson Street. It would work like the Amazing Race, with different business as stations (example: Stonehill, Bazket, Sorrento, L’Kaisei) and key personnel just roaming in plain sight along the street. This activity would be win-win for everyone as it would attract curious goers and participate in different establishments to enjoy and win prizes.

The key part of promoting this would be the influencers. They would promote it as snippets and give puzzles online and picture a part of the venue. This would generate buzz and would entice people online to try and solve the puzzle. If possible, invite a famous celebrity to promote a “meet n greet” to the lucky Masskara attendees that solved the different puzzles so that everyone would try to the Masskara Hunt.

Since the purpose of the mask is anonymity, everyone would wear masks and would journey throughout Lacson Street. Only the attendees with masks on can participate in the secret tasks in the Hunt. The tasks that will be provided on the different stations would be about the history of the festival and Bacolod itself and would be designed in a way that it will not harm other people or property. The participants would be given a strict set of rules that when they break it, they will prevented to finish the hunt.

Technology could be used for order and payment processing, or a kitchen management system to track orders. Communication with customers about menu changes, seating capacity, and operating hours will help set expectations and minimize frustration.

The availability of avenues to be utilized to boost public awareness of a business or product. To market your business or in this case, to market a hotel or restaurant this Masskara season, aggressive campaign is a must. Not only utilizing digital marketing but using the opportunity of the word of mouth.
Hotels should never cease to amaze its customers on a daily basis. Maintaining their standards in cleanliness, scrumptious food, and quality customer service. This establishments should always make sure that their customers are comfortable and enjoying their accommodations and served dishes since the customers themselves will do the marketing. The power of word of mouth is not a thing to be considered immaterial.
Since Masskara Festival is a season were volume of customers composed of tourists and locals is at its hike, considering promotions and discounts on hotel accommodation is a plus. Competitive rates for group customers, family or couples. These promotions should be campaigned online for public awareness. For restaurants, innovative dishes should be featured and served. Tourists enjoys places with delicious and justifiable price. People tend to chooses those hotels and restaurants where they could get the best out of what they have spent.
Inviting famous influencers and celebrities can boost the exposure of establishments as well. Making your business attractive is more inviting to locals and tourists. Always take note of the calendar of activities of the festival, to schedule the said public people to be present on the establishment.
And of course, take advantage of the social media platforms such as facebook, intagram, youtube and twitter. Posting on these platforms what the business could offer such as high-quality pictures of dishes available, rooms neatly arranged, and videos featuring the business and its customer service. The contents should be inviting and of good quality. Daily posting and tapping with public pages to promote the business is a plus as well. Social media platforms are cost effective and posting on these platforms could reach a large crowd.
Also, if its in the budget, sponsoring masskara activities such as Masskara Queen pageant, Masskara Dance competition and other exhibits will increase the exposure of the business to locals and tourists. Brochures and pamphlets to be distributed on areas with a large concentration of crowd is not a bad idea too.

    2. Leveraging Social Media and Influencers
In my humble opinion, the best social media platform to utilize are the Facebook and Youtube. Almost all people now a days have access on smart phones with internet. Videos are more attractive than posted articles. Creating entertaining but information packed contents for the business is a plus to attract more tourists and locals.
Local influencers such as Langga for example has millions of followers. Tapping with her, creating a video content featuring the business, celebrating the festivities with the all the good stuff the business could offer is quite attractive. Also, the business should create packages suited for families as well, child friendly accommodation. Some tourists and locals tend to travel in a pack and capturing this type of market is beneficial to the business.
Hosting contests to take advantage of the volume of crowd these festivities with known social media influencers. Example, a local radio station here in Bacolod partakes to the activities of the festival. The said station is hosting a hip-hop dance competition open to all dance group willing to partake in this contest. To generate income, the business is utilizing their advertisement packages with discounts to businesses who wants to put ads during the contest event. A win win strategy for the station, they generate income and at the same time exposing the name of the station to a large crowd gaining more supporters and at the same inviting more people to join the festivities. Benefits the business and the local tourism at the same time. We had been doing this for 3 years already and its quite effective.
Also, the frequent the posting on facebook featuring the warmth of Masskara festival, the higher the recall it could create to any person the post may reach. And if its in the budget, boosting the post on social media also helps. Creating facebook pages to showcase the festivities and along with it the good things a business you are supporting could offer to the tourists and locals. And for the content be more attractive, it’s a plus to have influencers as the subject of the content. The pull of these influencers will attract a large audience hence the content will be more inviting to tourists and locals. Contents should feature quality videos and pictures incorporating the Masskara festival and the business you are supporting.

    3. Navigating Cultural Sensitivity and Authenticity.
The tradition of Masskara Festival had been a talk of the town since the 1980s. The Bacoleños had been able to maintain its identity despite the rapid change in culture due to influence of foreign culture and technology. Any entrepreneur should make sure to be able to address the need for culture and tradition preservation in marketing the business using the festivities. Example, if I am an owner of a restaurant situated in Bacolod City, I will continue to serve local delicacies and dishes of which the city of smiles became famous. The Inasal na Manok should always be present in the menu making sure to packed it with the kind of taste signature only to my business. Also, making the festival alive by adding designs to the restaurant. Putting colorful masks on walls, paintings or crafts which related to masskara festival is a simple yet way to preserve the traditional celebration of Masskara Festival.
With the use of Facebook, its best to make contents talking about the history of the festivities. When and how it started, this will enhance history recall thus will benefit the later generation for they will never miss the stories of the Masskara Festival. Pictures of the past and the previous masskara dance competition, will help telling the public of the transition from the 1980s up to the present way of celebrating the event.

Advance Reservations – I will encourage early reservations by offering discounts or perks to those guests/visitors who will book their rooms in advance of the festival dates. This will help us secure bookings and will also provide us with a clearer picture of occupancy. We can also implement tiered pricing based on room type and amenities like charging higher rates for premium rooms with festival views or special packages and offer more budget-friendly options for budget-conscious travelers.
Flexible Cancellation Policies – create flexible cancellation policies that accommodate last-minute changes in festival plans that way it may attract travelers who are unsure about their schedules during the festival dates.
Maximize Online Platforms – optimize hotel’s website and social media profiles with festival-themed content, images, and information and utilize search engine optimization to ensure your hotel appears in relevant online searches. We may also partner with online travel agencies and list the hotel on platforms like Booking.com and Expedia to reach a wider audience.
Local Advertising – Advertise in local newspapers, magazines, and radio stations to target residents who may recommend your hotel to visiting friends and family.
Email Marketing – Create a targeted email marketing campaign to reach out to previous guests and subscribers with Masskara Festival offers and promotions.
Collaborate with Local Businesses – Partner with local restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues to offer joint promotions and packages. Cross-promotion can attract visitors looking for a complete festival experience.
Social Media Engagement – Actively engage with festival-goers on social media platforms by sharing festival updates. We may decorate the hotel to reflect the festival’s spirit and for the place to become instagrammable.
Post-Festival Promotions – extend the marketing efforts beyond the festival by offering post-festival promotions and incentives to encourage guests to return for future visits and encourage them to leave a positive review on platforms like TripAdvisor and Google as this can boost the hotel’s reputation and attract more guests.

    3. Transportation Logistics
Background: Bacolod’s transportation network faces added pressure during the Masskara Festival due to the influx of visitors. Ensuring smooth and efficient transportation services becomes paramount.
Question: As a transportation company executive, how would you address the logistical challenges posed by the festival, such as increased demand for taxis, shuttles, and other services? What strategies would you implement to optimize your transportation offerings and meet the needs of festival attendees while maintaining high standards of safety and convenience?

To address logistical challenges during the Masskara Festival and optimize transportation services, I would begin planning months in advance, considering historical attendance data, anticipated visitor numbers, and road closures during the festival. This will help to consider if there is a need to increase the number of taxis, shuttles, and other vehicles available during the festival period and gage if partnerships with local rental services is needed to expand the fleet temporarily.

Another great strategy that can be found online are the following:
    1. Online Booking and Apps – Develop a user-friendly mobile app or enhance your existing one for easy booking and tracking of vehicles. Allow users to pre-book rides to reduce wait times.
    2. Dynamic Pricing – Implement dynamic pricing to incentivize drivers to work during peak hours. Ensure transparency to avoid customer dissatisfaction.
    3. Special Festival Routes – Create festival-specific routes and schedules to efficiently transport attendees between popular destinations, hotels, and event venues.
    4. Customer Support – Bolster customer support to handle inquiries, complaints, and emergencies promptly. Provide multiple communication channels for passengers to reach out.
    5. Safety Measures – Conduct safety checks and routine maintenance on all vehicles before and during the festival. Train drivers on safety protocols and handling large crowds.
    6. Alternative Transportation – Promote eco-friendly options like bike rentals or shared rides to reduce traffic congestion and environmental impact.
    7. Cashless Payments – Encourage cashless payments to speed up transactions and reduce the risk of theft during peak festival times.
    8. Real-time Monitoring – Utilize GPS and real-time monitoring systems to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and respond swiftly to changing conditions.
    9. Marketing and Information – Keep passengers informed about transportation options, routes, and schedules through digital and traditional marketing channels.
    10. Feedback Loops – Create a feedback mechanism for passengers to share their experiences and suggestions, allowing for continuous improvement.
    11. Emergency Response Plan – Develop a contingency plan for handling emergencies, including medical situations and unexpected road closures.
