DITO Telecommunity Celebrates the Colorful Bacolod’s 45th MassKara Festival

This year, I had the incredible opportunity to experience the 45th MassKara Festival in my hometown of Bacolod City. As a proud Bacolodnon, nothing quite compares to the vibrant celebration of our culture and community spirit that this festival represents. Known as the “City of Smiles,” Bacolod truly lives up to its name during this month-long extravaganza. I was thrilled to see DITO Telecommunity playing a pivotal role in making it even more memorable.

A Colorful Kickoff

The festivities started with the Grand Countdown Salubong on October 11, 2024. The streets were exciting, filled with colorful parades and performers donning elaborate masks and traditional attire. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride as I watched my fellow Bacolodnons come together to celebrate our rich history and creativity. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter and music echoing through the streets, drawing locals and tourists alike into the joyous spirit of the festival.

DITO’s Impact

What stood out this year was DITO Telecommunity’s commitment to enhancing our community connections. In collaboration with the City Government of Bacolod, they curated engaging activities showcasing local talent and promoting Filipino culture. Their presence was felt throughout the festival, making it even more vibrant. One of my highlights was the Miss Bacolod MassKara 2024 Coronation Night on October 19. I watched in awe as talented individuals from all over the city competed for the crown, culminating in the awarding of the Miss DITO Telecommunity special award for community spirit. Seeing young women embodying confidence and dedication to our community was inspiring.

Celebrating Women in Music

The festival also featured the TODO Na DITO sa MassKara ElekTROIKA Divas, an event dedicated to celebrating women in music. I found myself dancing along with friends as local artists took center stage, their voices resonating through the crowd. The celebration was not just about music; it was a powerful reminder of the strength and talent within our community.

The Street, Arena Dance Competition, and Electric Grand Parade

The excitement peaks on October 26 with the Street and Arena Dance Competition and the Electric MassKara Parade. The street dance competition will showcase local performers’ incredible talent and creativity, while the arena dance competition will highlight their skills in a more structured setting. Both events promise to celebrate Bacolod’s vibrant culture, uniting the community in a spirited display of artistry and joy. The atmosphere will be filled with pride as attendees cheer for their favorites, celebrating our city’s rich heritage and creativity.

Experiencing DITO Days

From October 25 to 27, DITO Days will take place at the Corporate Block on Lacson Tourism Strip, featuring a vibrant Experiential Hub with immersive activities for all attendees. Guests can relax at a cozy café while enjoying live performances from famous artists such as Cup of Joe and P-pop sensation ALAMAT. The atmosphere will be lively as participants engage in contests like TODO KantahanTODO Sayawan, and TODO Gaming. Each evening will culminate in spectacular concerts, inviting everyone to dance under the stars and create lasting memories.

A Commitment to Community

Evelyn Jimenez, DITO’s Chief Revenue Officer for Consumer Business, beautifully articulated their mission:

“At DITO, we believe our role as a telecommunications company goes beyond connectivity. We are here to empower communities, celebrate local heritage, and showcase Filipino talent.”

Her words resonated deeply with me as I witnessed firsthand how DITO’s involvement enriched our festival experience.
