Fostering Faculty Unity: Refreshing Teambuilding Experience at Almadria Highlands | University  of St. La Salle Bacolod, Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department

Teaching, a demanding profession, requires constantly striving to meet high standards set by our esteemed institution and the Faculty of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of St. La Salle Bacolod (YAL – College of Business and Accountancy). As a faculty member, I understand the need to refresh our energy before the upcoming first semester of the school year 2023-2024. Recently, we had the powerful opportunity to participate in an unstructured teambuilding activity that invigorated us all.

In this unstructured setting, we stepped outside our comfort zones, embraced challenges, and reconnected with our passion for teaching. Laughter, camaraderie, and personal growth flourished as we strengthened our bonds and reignited our enthusiasm. This teambuilding experience has revitalized us, preparing us to inspire our students with renewed energy as we embark on the exciting journey of the upcoming semester.

Adjustments and Demands

In our unyielding commitment to providing the highest quality education and equipping our students with the skills needed for success in the industry, we persistently assess and improve our curriculum and teaching materials. As devoted members of the teaching personnel, we continuously strive to enhance our resources and adapt them to meet the ever-changing demands of the times. Moreover, we recently completed performance evaluations, which involved valuable input from our students and insightful assessments from our supervisors, adding an extra layer of scrutiny and self-reflection.

Undeniably, this demanding process can exact a toll on our mental and emotional well-being, leaving some of us, myself included, feeling depleted and exhausted. This is precisely why a teambuilding activity provided a much-needed reprieve from our daily routines and responsibilities.

Unstructured and Effective: Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department Teambuilding

Although the teambuilding activity appeared unstructured, it was highly effective, at least from my perspective. It allowed us to let go of formalities and embrace our authentic selves. We laughed, shared stories, and allowed ourselves to be vulnerable. Our esteemed dean, Dr. Jacqueline Felix, even encouraged us by saying, “It’s okay; we are not inside the school campus.” This freedom to be ourselves was compelling.

Unveiling Individual Strengths | Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department Teambuilding

The teambuilding activity catalyzed an incredible transformation within our team. Through heartfelt laughter and captivating storytelling, we shed our professional facades and embrace our true selves, vulnerabilities, and all. This genuine connection fostered a deep sense of unity, propelling us to new heights of strength and resilience.

What made the experience even more enriching was the diverse participation of part-time practitioners who brought their unique perspectives to the table. Sir Sonny Cabahug, an HR Manager in a local BPO, and Engr. Engiemar Tupas, from a government agency, joined forces with me, a business professional, creating a rich tapestry of backgrounds and experiences that infused the activity with fresh energy and insights.

Fostering a comfortable and enjoyable working environment is paramount in a department that thrives on creativity. Our good fortune lies in having esteemed full-time faculty members, namely Ms. Liza Nismal, Dr. Jojo Bayona, Dr. Virgil Villarosa, and Sir Joebert Chong, who not only provide invaluable guidance but also embrace the infusion of fresh ideas. Additionally, the collaborative efforts are uplifted by rising stars, Sir Kevin Lopez and Ms. Kathlyn Tiu, who contribute a vibrant and dynamic element.

Furthermore, it is worth acknowledging the indispensable role played by the charming and dynamic YAL- College of Business and Accountancy staff, to which the marketing and entrepreneurship program belongs. Specifically, Mel IssaJoy Selda, Jen Rose Musni, and Joy Lyn Parreno are critical in ensuring the efficient operation and success of the program.

The interplay between seasoned veterans and young talents sparked a beautiful amalgamation of ideas, creating an atmosphere of innovation and synergy. This harmonious blend enhanced the overall beauty of our teamwork, propelling us toward tremendous success and accomplishment.

The Power of Collaboration

Numerous plans were formed during the teambuilding activity, and many ideas surfaced. We entrusted these ideas to our administrators present: our dean, Dr. Jacqueline Felix, and our department chair, Weng Graciano. Their guidance and support further reinforced the unity within our department.

Almadria Highlands: A Perfect  Venue for Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department Teambuilding

Our teambuilding activity unfolded amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Almadria Highlands in Talisay, Negros Occidental. Nestled among majestic pine trees and blessed with cooler temperatures, this serene setting provided the ideal backdrop for our much-needed rejuvenation. The picturesque scenery, coupled with the presence of a spacious swimming pool, further enhanced the tranquil atmosphere.

While most of us hesitated to plunge into the cold waters, Kevin Lopez’s fearless spirit inspired us to step outside our comfort zones. His boldness served as a reminder that personal growth often lies just beyond the familiar and the comfortable.

Amidst the enjoyable surroundings, we seized the opportunity to capture countless photographs, preserving cherished memories that emphasize the significance of fostering relationships and cultivating a pleasant work environment. These captured moments serve as a tangible reminder of the value of a supportive and vibrant atmosphere as we embark on the challenges that lie ahead.

In conclusion, the unstructured teambuilding activity held at Almadria Highlands proved to be an invaluable opportunity for the Faculty of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of St. La Salle Bacolod (YAL – College of Business and Accountancy) to unite, unwind, and fortify our connections. As we stand on the precipice of a new school year, this revitalizing experience has invigorated our spirits and reignited our passion. Equipped with a unified and dynamic team, we are prepared to embrace the forthcoming challenges with unwavering determination.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their love and understanding when we needed to step back. We have the potential to achieve greatness through our unity and unwavering support for one another. Cheers to countless more extraordinary moments for our department, and may the blessings of God be with us all. Stay Fabulous, everyone!
